project Specifics
Automating CEF2 to double hospital energy and cooling capacity reliably
To support a major hospital expansion, the CEF2 Energy Facility was added to increase on-site generation and cooling capacity. Our Team delivered the SCADA control system and PLC platform, integrating 2 × 2 MW diesel generators, 2 × 4.4 MW chillers, 4 ControlLogix PLCs and 2 CitectSCADA servers. We engineered, programmed and documented the full solution, then tested in factory and on site.
The result is a robust, scalable automation system that underpins critical hospital operations.
About the CEF2 Energy Facility
The Central Energy Facility provides the hospital’s core utilities—electrical generation and chilled-water production—to keep clinical services running safely and efficiently. With the addition of CEF2, the site doubled its previous capacity, adding high-voltage generation and large-scale chillers to improve redundancy, resilience and load management across the campus.
What We Delivered
What we delivered:
- SCADA design and development
- PLC design and development
- Equipment procurement
- Control panel manufacture
- Factory testing
- Site commissioning
- Ongoing automation and instrumentation engineering under an Annual Service Agreement
Delivery Method:
- Subcontractor to the principal constructor
Outcome
The upgraded facility was commissioned smoothly, integrating new generation and chiller assets into a unified SCADA/PLC environment. Operations staff gained reliable visibility and control, redundancy was improved, and capacity targets were achieved. The client has continued to engage Our Team for ongoing support, reflecting sustained confidence in the solution and its performance.
