Turnkey electrical, instrumentation & SCADA upgrades for twin WTPs

To improve water quality and increase capacity for two townships, the Moura and Biloela Water Treatment Plants were upgraded under a single programme valued at $1.8 million. Works added new dosing systems, improved filtration and replaced ageing process equipment. Raw water pump stations received new switchgear and VFDs, with standby generators for resilience. Both plants were fully automated for after-hours operation.

Result: reliable, higher-quality water with modern, remotely operable assets.

The Moura and Biloela plants supply treated potable water to their respective communities. Core duties include raw water intake, chemical dosing, filtration and disinfection before distribution. Reliability, security and the ability to operate safely with minimal staffing are critical, particularly for regional councils serving dispersed populations.

Services:

  • Detail design of switchrooms and motor control centres
  • Detail design of instrumentation
  • Detail design of communications and control systems
  • PLC and SCADA programming
  • Supply, installation and commissioning of switchrooms, MCCs, cabling, instrumentation and control systems
  • Ongoing control systems engineering support under a services agreement

Delivery Method:

  • EIC design, supply and install (turnkey)

Our Team delivered a modernised, fully integrated control system that lifted plant capacity and water quality while enabling secure, unmanned after-hours operation. The council gained resilient infrastructure (including standby generation), streamlined maintenance, and dependable remote monitoring. Contributing to lower lifecycle risk and high operator satisfaction.
