Feasibility and power design for mine-water transfer between three dams
Kestrel Mine required a study to manage mine-affected water for a new mining area at Kestrel North. Our Team completed a feasibility assessment for storage, transfer, and electrical supply to move water between three dams. Including the new Kestrel Dam. We modelled options, sized and selected equipment, and produced schedules and cost estimates.
Result: a clear, buildable configuration and power solution for the Kestrel Dam project.
About the Kestrel Dam Project
The mine’s water management strategy depended on transferring mine-affected water between the Environmental Dam (existing), Rejects Return Water Dam (existing), and the Kestrel Dam (new). The study examined pumping routes, power supply options and construction impacts to ensure reliable, safe and cost-effective operation.
Engagement with site representatives and civil, mechanical and automation consultants informed the final recommended approach.
